Although the sun was out as I exited the building and began my drive home, the sky soon turned to black clouds and the rain followed. We had planned on going to the dog park for a run (they would run, we would watch) and hitting a McDonald's drive-thru on the way home. Since it was pouring and our chances of going to the park looked slim, I took the liberty of picking up some cheeseburgers and milkshakes so we wouldn't have to cook.
But the sun came out as I edged closer to home. Great! Perfect weather for photographing flowers! And I noticed a new patch of lilies in the backyard this morning. I ran inside, dropped the fast food off in a smiling Sean's lap, changed out of my heels and into jeans, and headed outside to photograph the garden.
I ended up soaking wet from kneeling in the grass for an hour, and I took just over four hundred and fifty photos. Here are ten of them.
Sean is crashed out on the couch now. He
was watching Planet of the Apes. If you ask me, it is almost impossible for anyone to stay awake during that movie. Sean says, "It's a CLASSIC!"
I say it's a classic all right...a classic sleeping pill.
Have I mentioned that I love working an early shift?

These are beautiful! Wow! I wish we would get some rain over here. I love a good summer rain
I don't mind getting up early - it appears to be a bizarre skill. My other half is the opposite - and can be downright nasty if forced to get up early :)
Yummy photography!!! You're so so so good at the macro.
Wonderful picture!
I've been trying for a while to do something similar, but with poor results... what is your equipment if I may ask?
ps my husband is a fan of planet of apes too, but I confess never managed to watch for more than 20 minutes, it just gives on my nerves!!
Pics rock!!
Steph: Isn't rain just the best? Especially when it's summer rain.
J: I usually agree more with Wendy. I would sleep until noon if I could. But I love getting out early!!! :)
Tash: You are too! Have you SEEN your pics of Ireleand? They're fantastic!
Mariella: I use a Nikon D40X. The lens is a...eh...uh... AF MICRO NIKKOR 60mm 1:2.8 D... whatever that means. I tried to stomach Planet of the Apes again last night, just the ending, and it is still TERRIBLE. You can tell your husband I said that. Hi M's Hubby!!
Scott: Again, my dear B-I-L, thanks. That video of Alex at gymnastics was amazingly adorable.
Laur I love your picts. You do magic with a camera. I love the droplets you capture and the bugs on the flowers. Thanks for sharing. Love, me
Aunt Sandy: I take after my cool aunt.
