Long day for the city dogs

Believe it or not, I actually woke up with the sun and was energized and roaring to go. Usually, Sean has to pry me from my covers on Sunday mornings -- er, um --afternoons. The dogs and I were outside by eight and photographing more flowers in the garden.

My sister Carrie called an hour later and asked us to go hiking. So we drove to New Haven and spent the day hiking and swimming with our "city dogs". Sean must've said, "Today you two are city dogs!" a thousand times on our drive down to New Haven.

And then waking up so early, and my battle to stop drinking caffeine caught up with me and I fell asleep from 2-5PM. Yeah. Um. I must've been tired.

Tonight we sat in the backyard as Jasmine and Sam ate the most disgusting bones ever. But although Sean and I were pretty repulsed, the dogs seemed to be in heaven.

That last one may be my favorite picture of Jazzy ever. It's the kind of photo that would constitute blackmail if she were a human.

Rain(bows)

After spending all day in the office watching the clouds roll through in droves, I was not shocked with the fierce roar of the sky as I drove home.

It poured hard for twenty minutes or so, and then as the rain let up I went outside to find some pretty awesome sights surrounding our house.

Part of me will always want to live out my childhood dreams of being a storm chaser.

Kicking the habit

I drink way too much caffeine. Yesterday, I drank two liquids all day: Coke, Coke, and orange soda. Aren't we supposed to be drinking something like eight glasses of water per day?

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I am certainly addicted to Coca-Cola.

I try to quit, but every time I get that withdrawal headache I give in and buy a soda from the vending machine.

What kind of caffeine drinker are you?

That's my girl

"So you'll never guess what your son and daughter ate tonight. A half of a loaf of bread! And then your daughter had the nerve to walk over to me while I was picking up the wrapper and burp in my face."

different perspective

This is probably my favorite picture that I've taken through the years. It dates back to June of 2004, snapped in a garden at UConn with my cheapo Fujifilm 5 megapixel point and shoot. When people see it, some recognize the subject right away and other ask, "what is it?"

So you bet I was excited when I went to photograph the flowers in my yard on Sunday and found my irises in bloom.

Here is my submission to this week's Exposaroonie challenge:
